Today, Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that Russia is ‘stronger than any potential aggressor’ to the United States. After their military modernization, he firmly stated that Russia is the second most powerful country in America.
As he advised the world to expect a new nuclear race, he said that he is seeking for a neutral relationship with President Trump.
He then added that the American boycott on the Anti-Ballistic Missile treaty in 2001 has been a downward spiral in the U.S-Russia relationship and had ‘created conditions for a new nuclear arms race’.
This treaty was signed in 1972.
He stated: “It’s no secret we’ve worked hard to improve our missile forces.”
After the cancellation of the treaty, Putin said, “we have had to modernize our offensive systems”.
He also claimed: “If anyone is unleashing an arms race it’s not us. We will never spend resources on an arms race that we can’t afford.”
Vladimir Putin also used this chance to deny Russian interference in the U.S elections.
“I’ve said before that the losing side is looking for people to blame outside. They would do better to look for the problems among themselves.”
He asked: “So that’s my work too?”
He questioned and criticized the democratic process in the country.
President Putin said: “Yes, there are democratic problems. We have raised them with our US partners more than once.
“It is in the archaic nature of the US system,” he added referring to the electoral college.
“So some states have preferences? Why do they still have that today…well that is a question for the American people.”
He exclusively stated, “America is a great nation.”
Donal Trump on the other side said that he is not planning to compete with Putin, instead, he wants close relations with the Russians in order to destroy ISIS.
I’ve said before that the losing side is looking for people to blame outside. They would do better to look for the problems among themselves.
